Design Museum Competition
Stanton Williams has been shortlisted for the competition to turn the Commonwealth Institute into the Design Museum. The transformation of the Grade II* listed "Parabola" building will include the creation of temporary and permanent exhibition spaces, an auditorium, education, catering and retail spaces and associated office and back of house facilities. In collaboration with Heatherwick Studio, Stanton Williams will now submit more detailed plans for the 100,000 square foot site next to Holland Park before a winner is chosen next month. 03/03/10

Sprengel Museum
Stanton Williams has won the third prize for the international design competition for the extension of the Sprengel Museum in Hannover, Germany. The competition was to create an additional floor area of 4350sqm comprising of exhibition spaces, an events area, offices and a new delivery bay. The building, designed by P. & U. Trint and Dieter Quast and erected between 1979 and 1989 is regarded as a particularly notable example of German museum architecture. Gavin Henderson new member of CABE review panel
Director Gavin Henderson has been appointed member of CABE National Design Review Panel. The panel consists of around 40 experts drawn from the architectural, built environment and creative communities and advises on the most strategic and significant schemes across England. 23/02/10

Grand Musée d'Art de Nantes
Stanton Williams has won the international competition to transform one of the leading art galleries in France, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Nantes. The museum will be comprehensively renovated, while a new 5800sqm extension on an adjacent site will provide space for the display of twenty-first century art, a sculpture court, and other facilities. It will be known upon completion as the Grand Musée d'Art. 17/12/09

Stanton Williams' community hub starts on site
Stanton Williams' new community 'hub' in Hackney Marshes, London, has just started on site. The scheme comprises new sports changing rooms, a café and an education facility. It will connect with its immediate surroundings and the local community, while providing an important link to the adjacent Olympic Park, which includes Eton Manor – the Games training ground and Paralympic tennis venue also designed by Stanton Williams. 16/12/09

Eton Manor received planning approval
The Eton Manor site for London 2012 received planning approval this week for its Olympic and Paralympic Games modes. The site will primarily accommodate the temporary aquatics training facility during the Olympic Games and will additionally host the Wheelchair Tennis, with a gross total capacity of 10,500 spectators, during the Paralympic Games. 28/10/09

Sprengel Museum Competition
